Mountain Bike World Cup: Tackling Beatrice

I'm loving the Tour and I'm also following the UCI Women's Mountain Bike World Cup tour. This past Saturday Canadian, Catherine Pendrel dominated and won the grueling Mont Sainte Anne course.

Scary and exciting watching the brave riders descend down the Beatrice. It's a cute name but it's the most technical part including a massive steep rocky jagged face. I saw many riders trying to avoid falling but world cup leader Julie Bresset crashed twice off the Beatrice descent. Her resiliency to bounce back (literally) is extraordinary, she finished third. German star, Sabine Spitz crashed heavily and had to abandon.

For Pendrel, it was a great win a day after Canada Day. With her win she sits in second place in the overall standings behind Julie Bresset. Her compatriots also rode very well; Marie-Helene Premont (5th) & Emily Batty (7th).

Next cross country race is in Windham, NY July 9th... I'll be following it!
